A California appeals court upheld the dismissal of two Los Angeles police officers who failed to respond to an ongoing burglary and instead searched. For Snorlax in the augmented reality game Pokémon Go.

According to a California court, officers Luis Lozano and Eric Mitchell were recording using a digital in-vehicle video system (DICVS) who decided to seize Pokémon after they failed to respond to the theft on Saturday, April 15, 2017. An appeal was issued Friday. A jury found the officers guilty of "several counts of misconduct" under a portion of a "record in which the plaintiffs were deliberately arrested for their duty to assist the commanding officer in responding to an ongoing burglary and playing a telephone game." The former officers appealed, claiming that the city was "unlawfully using DICVS registrations in its disciplinary proceedings and denies it." They supported public safety officers.
