NordVPN recently partnered with independent cybersecurity researchers to analyze a database of nearly 4.5 million payment cards for sale on the Dark Web. p>
The VPN found that the majority of the card - exactly 1,561,739 - was from the US. Visa cards are most popular in this region, followed by Mastercard and American Express. Even worse, the average cost to purchase card details located in the US was only $5.81. According to NordVPN, this is because hacked cash cards have less protection for victims than credit cards. p>
Of course, what's more worrying is how Hackers got hold of the card's details. A database breach is still a viable path, but now Hackers can force or guess payment card details. NordVPN notes that most systems limit the number of guesses that can be made in a short amount of time, but adds that savvy Hackers can bypass this. p>
Hackers force you to guess the payment card number and there is nothing you can do about it. ">
Most of the original 16-digit payment cards What you can do now know that there are standards for account numbers, and there are several numbers on your card that are not specific to your personal account, which means Hackers have to do less than guesswork to find a combination
Unfortunately, consumers cannot refuse to protect themselves from such brutal attacks. NordVPN says your best defense is to be careful and check your monthly account statement for any suspicious activity.
