NASA announced Friday that it has finally returned the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) to half-run. This news comes after the industry spent more than a month in safe mode. The telescope is running on its backup computer, and will resume normal operation after NASA restarts the rest of its systems online.

Last month, on June 13, the main HST malfunctioned due to load performance, and NASA engineers were unable to force it to restart in safe mode in the past. Technicians believe the problem may be related to the telescope's 31-year-old memory module in orbit. However, it turns out that this is a power control unit (PCU).

The Hubble Space Telescope backup computer has successfully connected to the Internet after a successful backup hardware change. After a short period of stabilization, the scientific instruments return to the operating state. https://t.co/Wca2Puz4mT

NASA has made several unsuccessful attempts to restart the PSU. So the team resorted to downloading the backup as a last resort, as this is a very "complicated and risky" process. Daytime restart of other HST equipment. When everything is in a stable state, the telescope resumes its normal scientific activities. Working with backup hardware shouldn't be a big deal because the observatory is nearing the end of its life anyway.

Its tasks will soon be performed by a much more powerful James Websp, albeit belatedly. The launch of the telescope (JWST) is scheduled for October 31 this year to prevent any delays. The two work together for a while until either the HST crashes or NASA decides to retire.
