The August expansion is the first step in Facebook Pay from the Facebook ecosystem.

In August of this year, Facebook will launch Facebook Pay for the first time outside of its operating systems. The Facebook ad described the move as providing a hassle-free mobile experience for businesses selected to use it, noting that Facebook users use the service to send money and purchase items in Facebook stores. Use Facebook and Facebook Market.

Not many elements in the Facebook ad, which applies most of the good points to the entire online financial industry, not just Facebook Pay - eg the system's use of encrypted storage and the fact that functionality is acceptable, Facebook Pay does not require card management Customers or bank account numbers. While these features look good on the first cheek, they are innovative rather than innovative - most online stores now use third-party payment processors that manage your credit card number and bank account.

Facebook pledges not to use Pay Card users' credit cards and bank accounts to "customize their experience" or target ads. The company also says that payments and purchases are not shared with friends, user profiles, or feeds. Note that these are explicitly separate promises - Facebook does not promise that payments and purchases will not be used to "personalise" or target ads.

Advertising

Verifying Facebook Pay blog posts perfectly illustrates the last point: and integrity (for example, to check for violations of our payment policies). For example, if you purchased a baseball glove on the Facebook Marketplace, you might see an ad for a baseball bat. On the plus side, direct email marketing is minimal, powered by Facebook Pay. They will only be allowed to use [your email address] for marketing purposes. Only, but the service is expected to expand to more purchase platforms and payment processors over time.
