At the recent Unleashed event, Apple spent a lot of time talking about the amazing power of the latest MacBook Pro M1 Max. The company has now confirmed that the 16-inch version of the laptop with the chip has a "High Power Mode" for the absolute best performance from the SoC.
Apple has now confirmed to MacRumors that High Power Mode will be part of the Monterey that comes with the new 14 - and MacBook computers The 16-inch Pro, however, is only available on the 16-inch model with the M1 Max chip — not the smaller laptop or all with the M1 Pro. Apple made bold claims about the performance of the M1 Max during its Unleashed event. Among other things, it uses 70% less power than Intel. Core i7-11800H Octa-Core CPU achieves 1.7 times more performance. It consumes 100 watts less, and it remains to be seen if the high power mode enables this statistic or adds more performance to the M1 Max.
M1 Max GPU 10 is the bottom of the M1 Pro has up to 32-4 times more cores than the original M1. It has 57 billion transistors, making the SoC the largest chip Apple has ever made.
