https://safirsoft.com Children's hospitals across the country are filling up amid the tidal wave Omicron
The severity of Omicron in children is still unknown, but more cases meant more hospitalization last week. And now it has the record for the highest epidemic history.

The increase in hospitalizations of children is occurring in the midst of an unprecedented vertical increase in general cases, which is due to the transmissible Omicron viral type. Although preliminary data still associate Omicron waves with milder disease and less hospitalization than previous types, it is not yet clear whether this type is inherently less malignant in individuals in general, and children in particular.

Laboratory studies are underway. Omicron appears to cause milder lung disease in rodents than in previous species. However, moderate Omicron waves in humans have been observed mainly in populations with high levels of prior protection against infection and/or prior COVID-19 vaccination. These populations are generally expected to suffer from more severe disease.

However, even if Omicron causes milder disease, it can still easily affect health care systems — as we've seen before. The sheer number of Omicron infections means that even a relatively small number of severe cases continue to cause large numbers of hospitalized patients.

On Wednesday, the United States reached its highest overnight rate of new cases submitted. Covid-19 cases still in the pandemic: 488,988, according to The New York Times. The seven-day average also reached a high of 301472, which has increased by 153% in the past two weeks. That broke the previous record of about 250,000 in early January last year. The average is 77851. Although hospitalization has usually increased by a week or more, the increase in hospitalization to date appears to be less than previously expected.

There was a steeper slope in the children in the hospital. According to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the current seven-day average of new daily hospital admissions for children under 17 is 378. The current rate of hospitalizations for children with COVID-19 is currently higher than at any other time of the year. The epidemic was 0.52 admissions per 100,000. The previous record set in early September was 0.47.

It is not yet clear how severe Omicron is in children. "More children will certainly get infected with this highly transmissible virus and with it, of course, more children will be hospitalized," Fauci said. “However, it is noteworthy that many children are hospitalized with Covid with Covid, which indicates a high prevalence of infection among children.”

While Covid -19 tends to be milder in children than adults with the types, it can be severe and even fatal. So far, 1,040 children under the age of 17 have died from Covid-19, including 332 children under the age of five. The CDC has also documented 5,973 cases of MIS-C syndrome, a rare condition in children with multifocal inflammatory syndrome. Complications of COVID-19 in children of these 52 MIS-C cases have been fatal.
