After reviewing all the 12th generation Intel processors launched so far, today we take a look at a comparison of these new processors when using Windows 10 and Windows 11, as well as Windows 11 running VBS (Virtualization Security Based).

We know there is a lot of discussion about the performance of Windows 11, which is what we usually expect when Microsoft moves on to a new one. The OS was released, but after several installs on multiple test systems, we didn't have bad experiences. In the case of the Windows 10 to 11 upgrade process, this is an improvement over previous generations, but it's not yet complete and can compromise performance, so we recommend doing a fresh install whenever possible.

In our 12th generation test, we're using DDR4 memory with an MSI Z690 Tomahawk Wi-Fi DDR4. We've also included the Ryzen 7 5800X Windows 11 results for reference only. We see that there is no difference between Windows 10 and Windows 11 because both operating systems are able to maximize the performance of the latest Intel Core i7 processor. What we've learned

There are a few things to keep in mind when being packed. Here, then, let's break it down in logical order. It doesn't matter, as long as one OS is used for all hardware configurations, and the same OS configuration is used for all tests.

Interesting, Microsoft says that the default behavior is to enable VBS for Windows 11 on systems that support this feature, but again, this was not the case on any of the Intel Z690 systems that we have installed. These systems support VBS and can be turned on or off without changing anything in the BIOS, but Windows 11 does not enable it by default.

It seems that all you need to enable VBS by default is an 11th generation or later Intel CPU, AMD Zen 2 or later CPU, 8GB RAM or more, an SSD with 64 GB or higher, and BIOS virtualization is enabled. Our testing systems meet these criteria, however VBS is not enabled by default yet.

In this article we have clearly shown the impact of VBS performance, at least on our hardware configuration, although we also know in some cases, especially with regard to games, due to the fact that we are using a high-resolution GPU with a lower resolution, The effect can be improved with the way we test, making the game more than just a CPU limit. This will be normal in most cases, so a slower GPU has a higher resolution.

But of course, this is the best way to highlight CPU performance and accurate data. But this means that under limited GPU conditions, VBS may reduce performance by only 5%, which is a relatively small percentage.

Finally, I think the best way to test is to disable VBS, but what players and users in general need to do is the best decision for them. Personally, I disable VBS on my gaming PC, but I'll probably have to run it on my PC because I want to do little to improve security.

When it comes to choosing between the two operating systems for 12th generation Intel owners, especially gamers, compatibility is another factor. Intel is having problems with DRU Denuvo. In short, DRM doesn't figure out what these new hybrid processors have to offer, and wasn't developed with them in mind, and so can cause your game to crash or not load. Intel raised the issue with the media prior to its release, so that was no surprise. Intel has already solved this problem for many games, and there are solutions for the remaining ones. This kind of problem in a completely new architecture is really for the same period, but unfortunately some media find it very disproportionate.

Intel is still actively working to address any issues with others. The games should be patched for Windows 11 users very soon. Only 30 games still have compatibility issues when running Windows 10, and an ETA may be available until next year to deal with them. As mentioned, Shadow of the Tomb Raider is on that list, and we haven't had a problem getting it to work on Windows 10, so it could very well be a hardware device.

Intel may really help gamers. It's useful in the long run, because some developers have simply decided to remove DRM from their game, and to be honest, this is something they should all do because things like Denuvo are cancer to make for gamers. Games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which is now 3 years old and costs about $10, don't require DRM.
