Today we get a fresh look at the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, because every time we make one of these GPU appointments we get dozens of requests for a 1080 Ti review, so go here. Fortunately, I really enjoy seeing previous generation GPUs, and playing them in multiple games to see how they work.
As a quick upgrade, Nvidia's GeForce GTX 1080 Ti was released in early 2017 for $700 (see our original review), which at the time was a huge amount for a game's graphics card. Tighten Oh, how the time has changed.

If you look at the latest benchmark data used in our GPU review, between the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, RTX 3080 Ti, and Radeon 6600 XT Let's face it, the GTX is still 1080 Ti delivers 1440p gaming graphics, averaging 93 fps in 12 games used in our first day review.

Let's take a look at how these four GPUs compare in twelve games, before looking at average game performance across all 31 games tested, along with some direct comparisons.

Interestingly enough, the GTX 1080 Ti was slower than the 2060 Super and 5700 XT and failed 13% with the Radeon GPU.
Moving on to Flight Simulator 2020, we've updated all our results for this title after the new patch improved overall performance. The game still doesn't run on older hardware with super smooth presets, but we're seeing a 30%+ improvement for all GPUs.
This allows the 5600 XT to deliver performance that can run at 1080p. The 5700 XT is super smooth at 51 fps. With that said, the GTX 1080 Ti averaged 56 fps at 1080p, which is plenty for this emulator.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is one of our old re-tested titles, but it's still very challenging and looks very good. The GTX 1080 Ti plays 90 fps at 1440p, while the 5700 XT did well at 80 fps, making the GeForce GPU 13% faster.
F1 2021 is the latest game in this category, and while it supports packet tracing, it is enabled by default on the GPUs that support it. Slowly, it's disabled on the RTX 2060 Super, as this is the only GPU that RT has, and instead we don't put it at a disadvantage. I simply disabled it to compare apples and apples. The 5700 XT was 25% faster than the RTX 2060 Super at 1440p, and despite that big margin, the GTX 1080 Ti was 6% faster than the 5700 XT, so it was a solid result for the Pascal GPU.
