Today we are finally looking at another generation of AMD mobile GPUs, the Radeon RX 6600M. Months ago we reviewed the RX 6800M, AMD's best independent graphics option for gaming laptops, but finding the RX 6600M for testing has been a little trickier so far, so it's better than ever.

The Radeon RX 6600M is part of the mobile series The AMD RX 6000 is made up of just three GPUs: the 6800M and 6700M - which use the AMD 22 Navi that appears on the desktop RX 6700XT - and the 6600M - which uses the Navi. Finding these GPUs in the market, especially the Navi 22 builds, is not an easy task. As far as we know, only the 6800M is used in the Asus ROG Strix line and the 6700M is in the MSI Delta and that's it. For the RX 6600M we're looking at today, we found at least a few options from different vendors.

In terms of the memory subsystem, AMD includes 8GB of GDDR6 running at 14Gbps on the 128-bit bus and up to 224GB of bandwidth. memory bandwidth. There is also 32MB of Infinity cache on the same GPU. In terms of power requirements, AMD lists this GPU as up to 100W, although every laptop I've ever used has a SmartShift design in which all system capabilities are shared between the CPU and GPU. So far we've seen in practice that power is between 75 and 100 watts in most games, although it's usually in the higher part of that range. Both GPUs occupy a class of systems, and sometimes you can find exactly the same laptop design as AMD or Nvidia GPUs. The 6600M has more video RAM (8GB versus 6GB), but it also lacks some RTX 3060 features, like DLSS and more mature packet tracing support. AMD Radeon RX 6600M GPU Review vs. RTX 3060 System testing for this mobile Today we used a Lenovo Legion 5 GPU review. Our unit is configured with AMD Ryzen 7 5800H and RX 6600M processors with SmartShift and 16GB dual-channel DDR4-3200 memory. Lenovo offers this laptop with the slowest 8GB DIMMs you can get, so I swapped it out for "standard" DDR4 memory quickly on all of the laptops we tested, allowing us to build more apples. compare.

During this Review we will compare the 6600M with other mobile GPUs in general, so the data for most laptops should be different for the same configuration GPU - Be sure to check the power limits before purchasing.

Test conditions: We're testing at 1080p using the laptop's internal screen via an iGPU - this is a standard configuration that runs without MO. We are testing it at 1440p. The criteria define 8 games in detail and then at the end we will look at 16 full games. in the testing phase. Criteria

The 1080p Metro Exodus delivers up to 6600M performance between the two RTX 3060s on our charts, using ultra-tuned settings. The 6600M up to 100W is 13% faster than the RTX 3060, which runs at 80-95W, but 10% slower than the same Nvidia GPU at 115-130W, so that's about where you'd expect it because of the power limiters. AMD's goal is strength between these two configurations, as well as performance. However, the 6600M is clearly not a low-end or mainstream GPU, easily outperforms the RTX 2060, and delivers significantly more performance than the RTX 3050 Ti GPU.

Over 1440p fighting for 6600M in this case, the GPU can only match the performance of the low-power RTX 3060 configuration which is 16% slower than the high-power 115-130W.There is still a large buffer for RTX 3050 configurations, and you still get 60fps , but 1440p is not suitable for this GPU in this game.

src=AMD Radeon RX 6600M GPU Review vs. the RTX 3060 At this 1080p title, the 6600M can only match the RTX 3060's low-power laptop configuration and is ultimately 12% behind the maximum RTX.Xie really benefits from the limits The highest power and performance GPU that can be achieved squawk

But at 1440p, the 6600M can somewhat improve its position. The RTX overcomes the low power consumption. 3060 configuration and generally falls between the two. Unlike the Metro Exodus, the 6600M does not lag behind the 115 Watts at a higher resolution, but still 13 percent slower at this address.

We've recently seen a couple of games where the 6600M couldn't be the best configuration for the Beat RTX 3060, but not always. Assassin's Creed Valhalla At 1080p, the RX 6600M is roughly at the RTX 3070's level, 11% ahead of the RTX 3060 115W and 18% ahead of the 80W. This title generally works well on AMD GPUs and doesn't make a difference here, especially at 1080p

AMD Radeon RX 6600M GPU Review against RTX 3060 6600M configurations offering roughly the same level of performance. There's not much to say here except that there's no difference, although we see again that the 6600M comes in at a higher resolution in the table below, suggesting that 1080p is a good point for this GPU.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a punishing game for mobile GPUs when running at impressive settings, even at 1080p. However, the 6600M does very well here, running 5% slower than the 115W RTX 3060 and 10% faster than the low-end type, so it's a mid-range GPU that performs as expected. p>

Like the rest of the games, 1440p isn't nearly as powerful for AMD and dropped from 5% slower to about 10% slower than the full-powered RTX 3060. None of these GPUs are enough to play at great 1080p settings , for the best experience, you should either drop the quality settings or use DLSS for the RTX 3060, which is not available on the RX 6600M.

AMD Radeon RX 6600M GPU vs. RTX 3060" class="b-lazy" «> Watch Dogs Legion is a powerful AMD GPU-configuration title, which is 7% faster than the RTX 3060 At 115 watts and 10% faster than the lower version. The 6600M is not yet on par with the RTX 3070, but it does fall between the RTX 3060 and the RTX 3070, which is a pretty good result for what will eventually be a mid-range GPU in gaming laptops.

At 1440p we see one Rare examples where the 6600M can outperform the mid-range RTX 3060 115W, yet the 1% lower performance is about the same. So, the actual experience on the AMD GPU is only slightly faster.

1080p At Horizon Zero Dawn, the RX 6600M is 3% slower The RTX 3060 is very powerful, which is a great result. Then at 1440p the performance isn't as good: the 6600M can get 1% less than the RTX 3060, but the Nvidia GPU beats the average frame rate.

6600M is one of the most powerful GPUs, outperforming both the RTX 3060 by about 5% on the graph. There is still a gap with the high-performance RTX 3070 models, but the 6600M once again shows its power for mid-range gaming at 1080p.

1440p RX 6600M What we've seen many times now is less effective. At this resolution, it lags behind both RTX 3060 configurations, although the effect is more moderate in terms of frame rate, as the low 1% still makes sense at this address. However, there is a significant distance between the 6600M and the much slower RTX 3050 Ti in this game.

The last game we're looking at in detail today is Dirt 5 Is. Here the 6600M is 8% faster than the RTX 3060 at 1080p and 24% faster than the low-power 80-95W. The 6600M is a lot more In the RTX 3070 position here, between the electrical configurations I tested in this diagram.

1440p resolution, again the RX 6600M is not the same size is not good, it fits RTX 3060 configurations. However, This score is better than some other benchmarks, with the 6600M being slower than the 80W RTX 3060. That's not the case here, as the 6600M is 6% faster than this model.

Comparison: Radeon RX 6600M vs. GeForce RTX 3060

Among those eight games, we take a great look at the high performance. But let's take a look at a full test sample of 16 games. When comparing the best configuration with the best full-power configuration, the RX 6600M is very similar to the RTX 3060 115W at 1080p. Average scores, some strong titles for AMD, a few titles for Nvidia, many by only a single digit margin are inseparable. This is a good result for AMD, given that the 6600M runs at a lower GPU power level.

Compared to the 6600MB 80W RTX 3060, 1080p becomes. It can be found on some laptops. The 6600M is 12% faster on average and is in fact a leader in every game tested. However, it also achieves this feature at a slightly higher power level.

at 1440p resolution using an external monitor connected directly to the GPU. The GPU can only be synced to the higher version of the RTX 3060, except in a few remote cases, such as the Watch Dogs Legion. Average output makes the 6600 megabyte six percent slower than the RTX 3060 115W.

Compared to the low-power 80W type, it's a rather complex case. The 6600M is only a few percent faster on average, so the two GPUs deliver effectively the same performance across a wide range of games, and that's slightly higher with the 6600M's power consumption. So as we've seen in a number of separate titles, the 6600M isn't really designed for 1440p gaming and is better suited to 1080p for many laptop screens. What we've learned

Overall, the AMD Radeon RX 6600M isn't surprisingly surprising that AMD puts it ahead of the RTX 3060 GPU, and depending on the configuration and resolution we want, it's right around the mark. There's nothing wrong with reporting that, compared to the past few generations of AMD laptop GPUs, it's a nice plus, but not a clear winner over Nvidia's offerings in terms of performance and features.>

Also the advantage that Nvidia has this generation, including DLSS. Although we didn't cover packet tracking in depth in this review, just know that the RTX 3060 is faster. The battle of DLSS against FSR is progressing rapidly, but as now, DLSS is a superior technology and is supported in more games. So while the 6600M can sometimes be similar to the RTX 3060 GPU in terms of raw performance, AMD still has a long way to go in terms of features.

The 6600M has 8 GB more VRAM on the front 6 GB. GeForce side, so expect the 6600M to grow with newer games that require more memory. Watch Dogs Legion is a title in which the 6600M is split off from the 1440p RTX 3060, unlike most other gaming trends, and will likely have additional VRAM. AMD Radeon RX 6600M GPU Review vs. RTX 3060 < /p>

In terms of price, only a handful of laptops at the moment remain the top. On Lenovo's side, choosing a Legion 5 6600M configuration saves about $150 for the same load or a 9% discount on the lower price. Another option is HP, they don't have a directly comparable Nvidia, but in general on the Omen 15 series the 6600M models are somewhat cheaper than the RTX 3060 models. It lasted not much, but the 6600M seems more expensive, but not cheaper - still It pays more than the much slower RTX 3050 Ti laptops, which makes sense.

Pricing. It seems fair for what you get, but that doesn't mean one GPU is recommended for another. Given Nvidia's dominance of the laptop market, we think AMD could be more aggressive in terms of price or performance, although its position is fair and the GPU offering is a solid laptop.
