Maserati managed to turn everyone's attention again by introducing the new generation GranTurismo model 2023 at the beginning of the week. This model is the first electric car produced by this Italian brand, and as it seems, this company plans to unveil the EV (electric) GranCabrio model in 2023. This information comes from Massimo Capaldi, Maserati's head of product, who was recently interviewed by the Autocar website.

Capaldi confirmed during this interview that this new Grand Tour model will receive a very powerful rechargeable battery and he will have a lot to say in this section. The Maserati GranCabrio EV is expected to be equipped with a zero-emissions engine along with four seats and a fabric roof. Maserati's executive sees the Bentley Continental GT Convertible as its main competitor in terms of price, and the base price of the Maserati Grand Tour is expected to start at 200,000, or nearly $230,000 at current exchange rates.

There is currently no other information available about Maserati's new car, but it is likely that the GranCabrio EV will share the same specifications as the 2023 GranTurismo. With these interpretations, it can be said that the gasoline version of the GranCabrio EV is equipped with a 6-cylinder twin-turbocharged engine, which in the Modena trim with its nominal volume of 3 liters can transmit approximately 483 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque to all four wheels. We should mention that this engine in the Trofeo model is capable of producing 550 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque.

Although gasoline models in the car market have their own specific and fixed customers, the GranCabrio EV or electric version can become a very unique product in the car market. The 2023 GranTurismo electric model, Fulgore, is equipped with three 402-horsepower electric motors, one of which is located on the front axle and the other two on the rear wheels. This car has an 800-volt electrical structure and is capable of producing 750 horsepower and 1,350 Nm in pure form. A 92.5 kWh T-shaped battery provides energy for these electric motors. According to Maserati, the acceleration from 0 to 100 and the maximum speed of this model are 2.7 seconds and 322 km/h, respectively. is, but the GranCabrio EV is expected to be slightly slower than this model due to its heavier weight. Also, the 270 kW DC fast charging system of this car can provide GranTurismo Fulgore for a 130 km trip with 5 minutes of charging.

According to the latest published reports, the new GranCabrio will be released in the second half of next year. This car will enter the market alongside an electric version of the Maserati Grecale, which means that the Italian brand will launch three electric cars in the car market in late 2023.
