what happened? Intel Ice Lake-U and Lakefield SKU have only been available for two years, but recent documentation from Intel shows that their slashing program has already started. In addition to these two series, Intel will also discontinue all Comet Lake-U, Celeron 5205U, 5805, and Pentium 6805 SKUs.
With Tiger Lake-U out in the wild, there's not much reason to continue producing Ice Lake-U chips. As we saw in our Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor review, the Tiger Lake-U processor is generally faster than the Ice Lake-U, mainly due to the higher speed it offers.
The most surprising thing is that it is turned off. from Lakefield. Intel has yet to reveal a successor to its first hybrid processor, and given the timing of Lakefield's dismissal, that seems unlikely. The set consisted of just two SKUs, Core i3-L13G4 and Core i5-L16G7, which were shown on less than a handful of devices.
