China's first domestic GPUs are impressive on paper, but the manufacturer isn't keen on selling them to customers. Instead, it identifies them as effective computing accelerators for cloud systems, although it says the Support tab supports DirectX and Vulkan.

In November, we found out that a Chinese company called Innosilicon was developing a GPU that could be as successful as YMTC and 128-layer 3D NAND memory. The new graphics card - called the Fenghua 1 - didn't receive glamorous advertising from Nvidia and AMD, but what caught our eye was its support for the DirectX and Vulkan APIs used in many modern designer PC games. TechNode's Stewart Randall shared a short video on Twitter this week showing that China's first GPU isn't just a mirage. This video shows a mini tower computer with an Innosilicon Fenghua 1 graphics card that uses the GFXBench T-Rex standard. There are no fps counters on the screen, and we can't see test results, but since this is a mobile-based benchmark, it's unfair to compare with current AMD and AMD graphics cards. Nvidia.

At least on paper, the Fenghua 1 should be compatible with lower-cost graphics cards. There are two variants, Type A which can deliver up to five teraflops of FP32 performance and Type B can double that thanks to a two-chip architecture. Both are based on IP PowerVR from Imagination Technologies, which makes them relatively efficient despite being manufactured using a 12nm process node. It also supports DirectX 11, DirectX 12 and Vulkan 1.2.

For reference, Nvidia's GTX 1660 SUPER can deliver just over five teraflops of FP32 performance, with the non-Ti RTX 2080 one hair longer. . 10 TFLOPS. However, the specifications given by Innosilicon do not appear to be combined. On the other hand, Fenghua 1 19Gbps ​​cards use GDDR6 and GDDR6X memory for a maximum bandwidth of 304Gbps, and the company says the fill rate in the Type-A configuration is 160Gbps.
