The much-anticipated PC port makes us optimistic about Sony's Steam and EGS release plans. PCs have invested, and their release date has been a bit shaky so far, even if the future looks promising. Sony PC Port Combination Studios debuted Horizon: Zero Dawn in mid-2020, though the company eventually converted the game to fit a few months later. Meanwhile, Days Gone arrived in 2021 with a plethora of ringtones and computer whistles. These are just two shows for PlayStation on PC so far that have left many popular series missing.
In 2022, Sony will continue its lineup of PC ports by introducing two more titles. The first, the re-release of God of War 2018, is emblematic of the company's aspirations for PS4 games. (Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, release two later this year.) Sony Santa Monica revealed a God of War portal preview code for PC four weeks before the game's $49.99 release Friday on Steam, Epic Games Store, Humble . and other computer game offerings. Based on what I've tested so far, this level of reliability is guaranteed.

Before reviewing God of War's features for PC (and my recommendations for settings and upgrades), let's remember why I'm interested in porting a four-year-old PS4 game. When God of War re-launched in 2018, the main performance was a mixture of pregnancy and exhaustion that cooled my initial expectations. Sony's amazing, massive and emotional adventure didn't take long to change my song, and the game topped the Ars Ars 2018 list.

The reboot is still a very good game. . It fuses the lessons of modern day 3D adventure while maintaining its identity (and most importantly, avoiding Ubisoft-like issues with the open world bulge). The sequel, God of War Ragnarök, is due out this year, so take a look at the port of this game in 2018 as a promotion for Ragnarok (currently exclusive to PS4 and PS5 consoles). Whatever Sony's motives, it penetrates this gaming world by breaking the extraordinary reboot of the limitations of its console. Advertising

Higher resolution on PS4 Pro and higher frame rate on PS4 Pro PS5, God of War 2018 still leaves some graphic upgrades on the table - especially since the PS5 port didn't even add a visual touch to the beautiful PS4 stand. Could this game be more beautiful and run more efficiently on PC? In short: Yes and yes.

I use a mid-range laptop as the basis for my PC game tests. Equipped with Intel i7-9750H and RTX 2070 Max-Q processors and 16GB of RAM - the machine averages 68.5 fps in a standard 1080p sequence at default graphics settings "High". The experiment included an overview of a steady frame time, albeit measuring it "1% down" at 46 fps - arguably lower than the 60 fps sequence locked out roughly on the PS5. (This metric shows how the worst 1% of performance is performed in ways the average static might not.)

If you want to make sure the same device stays near 60fps all the time, PC Port provides GoW Two great performance improvements: Nvidia Ultra-Deep Sampling (DLSS), dedicated exclusively to RTX GPUs, and AMD FidelityFX (FSR) Ultra-Thin technology, which builds on more GPUs running. Both high-resolution images and functionality change, increasing laptop performance by at least 80 frames per second (84 frames per second for DLSS) for this benchmark sequence. Meanwhile, the 1% metering drops to 49.9 fps.

Other than my choice of standard sequences (the first cinematic encounter between Kritos and a mysterious stranger in the first half hour of the game), this notebook's combat performance score review overall shows better numbers. The 3D engine was able to control the effects of only some particles with occasional stutter. I don't know if GoW might eventually be updated with a pre-defined shadow compiler, a process that first reduces the game to address shadow selection to reduce current GoW stutter in PC games. There is no such process in making a God of War version.
