What happened? Today, Bethesda and Arkane released the first big Deathloop patch on PlayStation 5 and PC. It adds new fixes and features for both operating systems, but the main story on PC is the addition of Nvidia DLSS.
The first big patch for Deahtloop since its launch a month ago is about 11GB on Steam and about 5GB on PS5. Bethesda claims that ray tracing performance and game stability have been improved for both operating systems. However, DLSS on PC is probably the most significant performance improvement. Ten more games added DLSS support this week.
Deathloop launched AMD FidelityFX Ultra Resolution - a feature that optimizes images from lower resolutions to improve performance. Nvidia DLSS is a more complex endeavor that requires one of the company's RTX graphics cards. At the moment, not many games use both technologies, but a comparison earlier this year showed that DLSS is more effective overall. - Works! - DLSS looks good - DLSS works with great adaptive accuracy - Texture bias looks good for DLSS - Native DLSS resolution with Adaptive AA, with (amazing) DLAA effectiveness- Alexander Battaglia (Dachsjaeger) Oct 14, 2021
Alex Battaglia threw From DigitalFoundry already has a sneak peek at how DLSS works at Deahtloop, and his perceptions are positive. Confirms that this feature works with adaptive precision. Battaglia also notes that DLSS can be used in native resolution and adaptive flexibility, effectively converting it to DLAA. DLAA uses the technology behind DLSS, but instead optimizes the low-resolution image to improve performance, as described in The Elder Scrolls Online.
This patch also adds DualSense audio to your PC. The only patch before this was a minor stutter fix in the PC version. The new patch appears to be trying to address this issue further. Both systems should monitor the improvement of NPC tracks and responses, as well as the quality of the audio composition. Corrections in both builds must be applied to items such as laser mines, turrets, and some multiplayer interactions.
