The new Drive desktop app is only available for Windows and Mac.
Google has released a new Google Drive desktop application that replaces older versions for home and work. The new Drive app features Google Photos, as well as Backup and Sync (mainly the old consumer app) and Drive File Stream (the old commercial version). p>
Honestly, there doesn't seem to be anything new in the updated app - it seems to be an attempt to clean up and standardize more than anything else. Key features include:Loading and synchronizing images in Google Cloud Storage - including automatic compression and resizing, for those who choose 'Storage Storage' to synchronize the original image quality and external storage devices (large drives, USB hard drives, SSD) Sync Bi-Directional Files and Folders to Google Drive (Optional) - Automatically upload files in local folders as well as other methods to locally installed folders Local or in mirroring mode - Automatically upload files on demand, or defaults to all files from in - Apps cloud support for Google Drives Shared (new feature not included in Backup and Sync) Integration with Microsoft Outlook and Google Meet by scheduling ads
Upgrade to new Drive
According to Google, users of older backup and sync apps have started receiving i n-app asked to move to Drive for desk, and it has a top that advises users to do so by September of this year.
Backup and sync users support a workflow directed to switch from the old app to the new app on July 19, and Google Workspace domains (both express and scheduled release paths) display in-app notifications that will trigger the switch from August 18. The legacy Backup and Sync software will be completely discontinued as of October 1.
Who is this for? The answer
is simple, but we want to draw a thick underline because it's not that common these days - all Google service users can use the new Drive app. It includes personal and free accounts as well as paid Google Workspace accounts for businesses.
In other words, if you're a Google Drive user, it's time to go ahead and download the new app - no more procrastinating if you're in charge of Google Workspace, you have two months to complete the app test and implement the new version before turning off the backup Synchronization and completion of work on the first of October (October).
