The major redesign of the Play Store website has affected some user accounts.

The Google Play website is being redesigned. Android Police was the first to see the dramatic new look. It's not fully official yet, but it's on offer to many people.

While the Play Store app is constantly updated on Android devices, the website is often forgotten. The current design of the Google Play website dates back to 2013. The site has undergone minor changes since then, but the site is still eight years old and offers card-shaped content that Google has moved on. The new website looks just like the Android app. This means plenty of free space and a layout focused on app icons and video thumbnails.

In 2013, Google Play Store was envisioned as a one-stop shop for all of Google's content. At its peak, the Play Store sidebar had six sections: apps (and games), movies, TV, music (and podcasts), books and magazines (and news feed) and even a physical Nexus "devices" section. Google Play phones are much weaker today. The music is from Google Play Music and is now a YouTube product. The podcast is now available on Google Podcasts and YouTube will likely get it in the future. YouTube and Google Play Movies & TV now overlap as both sell Hollywood's best video content. On some platforms, such as smart TVs, Google is shutting down Play in favor of YouTube. The devices are now sold on the standalone Google Store website. There's a page for one app. There's a big title, a big app icon, and then a two-page layout. Zoom/page for a separate app. There's a big title, a big app icon, and then a two-page layout. Android Police

With this new design, Google Play is the one and only place for apps (and games), movies, and books. It's a very strange set of content at the moment. Assuming Google does the obvious and lets YouTube distribute the video, they just need to find a new home for the books, and then Google Play can only sell apps and games. Another interesting change here is that 'Games' is now Part 1 instead of Apps. Games are the most popular part of the Play Store and the biggest money makers, so it makes sense.

Focusing on apps, it seems that the Play Store will be much better at helping users. Find the programs you want. It shows several filter screenshots for form factors, a feature the Play Store site has desperately needed for years. Finally, you can limit the Play Store to phone, tablet, TV, Chromebook, watch or car apps. Android devices have millions of factors, and the device’s Play Store often filters apps for compatibility, but since the Play Store website is neutral territory, it dumps most everything into one big, unmanageable bucket. It's interesting to see the "Tablet" section, which was previously only available to users searching in the mobile app store. You can now filter by factors such as Now you can use some billing like "filter. "Disk" or "clock". Android Police

These new filters are yet another sign that Google is showing a renewed interest in moving Android beyond phones, the most successful factor in Android's form. Just last year, Google relaunched its TV platform, Google TV, and launched its first Android Automotive, Polestar 2. Google with the help of Samsung tweaked its Wear OS and announced the launch of an Android-focused foldable tablet called "Android 12L". The Play Store offers discounts to developers who support more form factors, and we hope to encourage developers to support more of these products. It seems like a great idea to let users check everything from the comfort of their web browsers. Update when this becomes official. Another touch that isn't there is any sort of "Material You" color scheme, which is a harmonious user interface for the new Android 12 color. The phone app matches the general color scheme of your wallpaper, while the website is still completely white. Google says it will one day sync your color choices with your Google account, where it can work on the web, but that doesn't exist yet, so the Play Store website is now all white. Android Police notes that the current design appears to be "something in progress", so it may take some time for it to become publicly available. If you don't currently have access to the new design and are looking for a glimpse, some people will report seeing the new design with Korean or Taiwanese options.
