The current robot vacuum does not exist and the FCC files indicate Dyson's next step.
The British Dyson vacuum cleaner does not want to be left in the dust when it comes to robotic vacuum cleaners. The company's current robot, the Dyson 360 Eye, is not currently available in the United States. But recent FCC cases show the company is working on a potential new product to help meet the demand of mechanical homeowners.
The Dyson Archive, seen by The Verge today and known as "Dyson 360 VISNAV," refers to a stunning blue display marked "Dyson 360 Hyperdymium." According to Dyson, Hyperdymium refers to a proprietary engine technology that can operate "at 125,000 rpm." Dyson also says the technology allows it to make lightweight vacuum cleaners. The "360" section explains that the robot follows the steps of the 360-degree eye by holding a 360-degree vision system. The 360 Eye has a small camera on top and sensors on the sides. The upcoming Dyson robot will likely have 360-degree vision. The upcoming Dyson robot will likely have a 360-degree view. Dyson
The robot appears to be much closer to the ground in FCC files than the 360 Eye, allowing the device to be placed in small spaces such as under a seat. As reported by The Verge, this device differs from the recently launched 360 Eye and 360 Heurist, which are taller and narrower for moving around corners and narrow furniture. Sent photos also show a ring of light that can help the robot clear at night.Enlarge/design a potential charging base. Dyson
FCC files are offered as the Dyson 360 Eye, which the company showed off as its first robotic vacuum cleaner in 2014, listed on the US website as "not available." Dyson launched the 360 Eye Heurist robotic vacuum cleaner last year but was not in the US, so these FCC cases could indicate Dyson's second attempt in the US to tackle issues like the Roomba.
Last month, the maker of Roomba iRobot introduced the Roomba j7 + Robot Vacuum, which has the ability to patrol.
As with any FCC case, there is no guarantee that we will never see this product in the United States - or ever.
