https://safirsoft.com Apple lost a top Silicon Mac CEO amid M1 transfer to Intel
This is a homecoming for Jeff Wilcox, who left Intel for Apple in 2013. He joined Intel. He will lead Intel's efforts to develop the system on a single chip.

Read more What to expect from Apple in 2022: ARM desktops, portless iPhones, and more Wilcox is making the move after eight years as a major player in Apple's desktop and laptop development. He had actually been at Intel for eight years prior to that, so the move to Intel is a comeback for him, not an entirely new frontier.

Announcing the change on LinkedIn for the past few weeks. He wrote in his first LinkedIn post:

After eight amazing years, I've decided to leave Apple and look for another opportunity. It's been an incredible journey and I can't be proud of all the work we've done during my time there, culminating in Apple's silicon transfer with SOCs and the M1, M1 Pro and M1 Max systems. I will miss all my colleagues and friends at Apple, but I am looking forward to the next journey that will begin in Year 1. More on the way!

A few weeks later, he wrote in a new post:

I am happy to share that I have started a new position as a partner of Intel, CTO Design Engineering Group, SoC Architecture client at Intel. I couldn't be happier working with the amazing teams out there to help establish leading Operations Centers. Great things await us!

This step is completely new. Wilcox started at Apple earlier this month.

The change relates to the broader story of Apple's development of ultra-efficient chips and Intel's efforts to keep going. Intel is working on a new silicon that it hopes will rival recent developments from Apple. Wilcox may be a key leader in these efforts.
