Reasonable price with some unique features, but competitors offer better performance.

Acer chose the Swift 5 as its vehicle to deliver Windows 11, and it was a safe choice. Starting at an MSRP of $1100, up to 1TB of storage, a good selection of ports, a more prominent keyboard and webcam cater to many laptop needs.

But "just fine" makes less sense when you look at the alternatives that go further. With similarly priced options that offer more CPU, graphics, and SSD performance than the Swift 5, the eyes can easily begin to wander.

Acer Swift 5 starts at $1,100 at Best Buy starting at $1,100 in New York (Ars Technic a may be compensated for sales through links in this post through affiliate programs.) Sure, the Swift 5 is a relatively expensive car with a uniquely green look, but for those looking for the most productive efficiency you'll eventually run out of grass. A cleaner has the above features only if it contains one of the antimicrobial paint configurations available only in Acer Green Matte. You can get the device in gold in a more expensive configuration, but it does not have antimicrobial properties.

So what exactly is an antimicrobial property? Acer told me that they cover 98% of the device with an antimicrobial coating that is resistant to bacteria. The coating focuses on areas of high contact, including hinges, touchpads, keyboards, and fingerprints.

The coating is made with silver ions, which research says can reduce 99.9 of bacteria. International Organization for Standardization Protocol No. 22196, which provides methods for testing the “antibacterial activity of antibacterial plastics and other non-porous surfaces of products”. In particular, ACS Applied Bio Materials describes silver ions in such a way that they can be readily absorbed into most biomolecules (DNA, membrane proteins, enzymes, or intracellular cofactors) in bacteria to disrupt their function. This coverage complies with both the Environmental Protection Agency and biocidal product regulations. In addition to the Swift 5, you can find Acer's antimicrobial properties on many computer lines. The value of this product is difficult to test because we do not have a microscope to compare bacteria levels with or without it. Silver ion factor but I think this coating can give peace of mind about hygiene. Because, let's face it - screensavers and touch screens get annoying.

An obvious flaw is that this feature resulted in aggressive marks on the top bezel of the Swift 5 display. Trademarks Zoom / Branding, if you ask. Scharon Harding

"Corning Gorilla Antimicrobial Glass" is a long name for a stamp of something I have to look at every day, and a pair of branding symbols makes it even more annoying for a PC

This branding also aims to showcase durability and longevity.Scratch Resistant Compared to the 14-inch Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro for the same price I was getting, the generic Swift 5 cover (not just glass) looked thinner and gave it more power on deliberate bending.>

I'm unaware if I didn't go back to my “green haze.” Gold in sharp keyboard legends, Acer and DTS acoustic deck logos, and port engravings on the air Swift and hinges (stamped with a thin SWIFT stamp) and reflective Acer logo on the door Gold bar with Zoom in/Stamp on the 'SWIFT' gold column. I can see the small spots that give the chassis a light, cohesive look. Acer says it was created with "mixed pearl particles". In the world of silver, black, and gray laptops, pop colors are always exciting. Green isn't the most vibrant color, but the gold accents contribute to the beauty of the look.” And since Acer opted for a pale green, the Swift 5 doesn't look cheap or Instantly youthful." 2. 4. 4 times stronger than standard aluminum alloys of the same thickness, but weighing 20 to 35 percent less. My Swift 5 weighs 2.31 pounds (1.05 kg) and is 0.59 inches (1.5 cm) thick. For comparison, Advertised aluminum IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro measures 0.57-0.67 inches (1.45-1.7 cm) thick and starts at 2.87 lbs (1.3 kg).

For durability, it uses a foldable chassis J slice small arc oxidation coating. Acer claims that it creates a hard coating that is "almost impermeable to scratches, abrasions, and other forms of wear." However, in the handles, the chassis is like ordinary plastic, lightweight, and a little rough. When pressing on a computer, some of them are affected - but only some. The surface appears to have enough sand to prevent damage, but it also feels invincible. Cheaper trims are hard to come by, even if they seem useful for durability.

Port selection is one of the things I want to see on a machine like this at least. On the left side of the Swift 5 there is an HDMI 2.0 port (instead of 2.1), a USB-A port you can use to charge other devices when your computer is off, and Thunderbolt 4 and a slot for inserting the power adapter. When the adapter is plugged in, a small piece of silver conductor breaks off, allowing the handle to vibrate gently when moved. I'm afraid the connection will loosen over time and the thin rubber cable attached to it won't make me feel better. left Zoom in / left. Scharon Harding

Scroll to the right of the device to find another USB-A port and a 3.5 port. Kurd. The millimeter socket, located near the Kensington lock, takes up space, which I prefer to allocate to the second USB-C port. Right.zoom/right. Scharon Harding
