Laptops and phones with OLED screens have rich, high contrast colors, but they are expensive. Using a 3D printer has found a potential solution to this barrier that could eventually lead to building their own OLED displays at home, researchers at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities (UMN) say.
In a study published Friday in Science Advances Friday, researchers used a dedicated printer that sits at a table and "costs the Tesla Model S," said Michael McAlpine, a professor at the University of Minnesota.
