Wyze is a startup already known for "pricing too good to be true". The company now offers some premium subscription features in a "pay anything you want" model. Wyze believes the live community pays enough for these features to support those who can't afford them.
On Tuesday, Wyze launched a new subscription tier for its smart home cameras starting at $0. Cam Plus Lite adds face recognition, 12-second cloud clips, and fast forward and backward controls. It also removes the 32GB microSD card memory limit. p>
Cam Plus Lite is just one deleted copy of Wyze's Cam Plus subscription that saved the company from bankruptcy during the pandemic. Cam Plus subscribers enjoy unlimited cloud registration and object discovery, including people, packages, pets, and vehicles. Wyze's premium subscription adds Cam Plus Pro (coming soon), 24-hour professional monitoring, and facial recognition. p>
The company hopes to get what it wants to pay. The service will save a few extra dollars to help fund cost-effective home monitoring systems. Wyze cameras sell for less than $36, and high-end service packages cost $1.99 and $3.99 per camera per month. Cam Plus Lite provides an entry point for those who might want to try it out before buying, and it also has some of the following features for those who want or need to stay free. p> On a trial basis. Form - want a limited beta in 2020 and 2021. Found the Wyze community to be quite generous and supportive. So the phrase "Test your name at a price" is now spreading to all Wyze users. p>
Even those who did not choose Cam Plus Lite will benefit from the larger storage space on the device. Wyze said it recently obtained the rights to an exFAT patent that allows its cameras to use microSDXC cards larger than 32GB. The latest version of Wyze Cam v3 includes an operating system that supports larger storage cards. Firmware updates in mid-February will add this feature to the rest of the camera and provide much-needed navigation and forward capabilities. p>
Cam Plus Lite is now available. Users can sign up for the Wyze website through their Account Services page. p>
