The world's fourth largest original equipment manufacturer has presented its electrification strategy.

Stellantis, the maker of a group of 14 car brands including Jeep, Ram, Peugeot and Citroen, is planning four new operating systems for battery electric vehicles. As part of its energy supply strategy. The company revealed its new electric strategy Thursday morning, laying out a plan that it says will produce first-class vehicles in every segment, from small city cars to chassis pickups and commercial trucks.

“The customer has always been at the heart of Stellantis, and our commitment to this €30 billion [$35.5 billion] investment plan as well as the investment plan is to deliver flagship vehicles with performance, functionality, style, comfort and integrated electric range.” “Our strategy Present Today focuses on investing the right technology to reach the market at the right time, to ensure that Stellantis has the freedom to move to the most efficient and cost-effective approaches, and it dictates the most stable approach.”

The small STLA is for city cars with a maximum range of 300 miles (500 km), and we're unlikely to see many of them in the US, preventing some fundamental change in North American attitudes toward small, slow cars. , cheap cars, the STLA environment produces small, compact cars with a maximum range of 440 miles (700 km).

STLA is great for all-wheel drive cars, and most importantly for the American market, strong muscle and SUVs, Stellantis says. Vehicles built on the large STLA platform will be brought to market within the next 3-5 years, with a target of 4.3 megawatts (6.9 km/kW) for connected electronics to the United States.

Finally, there's the STLA framework, which (as its name suggests) is a chassis-on-a-frame platform, as opposed to the monolithic build of the other three STLA EV operating systems. The STLA tire will be used for large trucks and commercial vehicles, and the Ram 1500 will be launched in 2024. Stellantis also briefly mentioned something called the "Range Electric Paradigm Breaker," which may appear to be a series hybrid, but Stellantis says he's not ready to share more details about REPB Until now.

Each operating system will contain a maximum of two million units per year. Stellantis says the size and high grade of common ingredients are key to market speed as well as cost control. There will be three main drive units that combine the electric motor with the transmission and the inverter. These drive units will also be suitable for front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive applications, as well as 4xe for plug-in hybrid SUVs.

Output power will range from 70 kW (94 hp) to 330 kW (442 hp), with the most powerful drive units operating at 800 V (versus 400 V). There is an inverter common to all three drive units that Stellantis says can operate at both voltages, with the main difference being the use of silicon or silicon carbide semiconductors. Stellantis says it plans to build domestic engines for every market in the United States and China, including within the company as well as through suppliers.

Newer operating systems use a pair of battery cells. Chemistry, one that does not use nickel and cobalt and one that uses high energy density chemistry. (In addition, it says it will offer solid battery packs by 2026.) STLA mini vehicles use packages with capacities between 37 kWh and 82 kWh. The STLA Medium EV can handle between 87 kWh and 104 kWh, the large STLA model uses 101 kWh and 118 kWh packages, the STLA tire requires packages from 159 kWh to 200 kilowatt-hours. By 2030, it will require more than 260 GWh per year, supplied by five major battery plants in Europe and North America. According to that time, 70% of Stellantis sales in Europe and 40% of North American sales are low-emissions vehicles.
