Tesla set a new record for vehicle delivery in the second quarter, delivering a total of 201,250 fully electric vehicles to customers over a three-month period. Of these, 199,360 were Model 3 and Model Y. The remaining 1,890 deliveries fall into the Model S and Model X groups.
Tesla said it only receives the vehicle that is delivered to the customer and all documents are correct. We're told, similarly, that the final numbers can vary by 0.5 percent or more.
The production in these three months mainly shows the delivery of goods. Tesla said 204,081 Model 3 and Model Y units were built during this period, and only 2,340 Model S and Model X units were built. Tesla revealed its new model last month, introducing its first 25 cars. New owners of the advanced S can hit 60 mph in just 1.99 seconds from a stop, and in 9.23 seconds it can reduce the quarter mile. According to EPA estimates, a single charge is good for 390 miles.
One of Tesla's new Model S Plaid sedans recently caught fire in Pennsylvania, trapping the passenger inside for a short time before being able to escape.
