BMW is removing the touch screen function from the infotainment systems of some of its cars due to the lack of a fixed chip. Infected models will still have an infotainment system, but must be powered using the iDrive console in the center console.
Change the news that was first published in the BMW Bimmerfest enthusiast forum. According to the main poster, the following models will be affected: G20 3 Series G22/G23 4 Series Coupe and Convertibles G26 4 Series Gran Coupe (except i4) G29 Z4 G05/G06/G07 (all types)
BMW confirmed the news Edmunds told the magazine that the move was the result of supply chain problems across the industry affecting it. Automakers around the world restrict access to certain features or options. p>
Does this bother you? Personally, I don't like touch screens because I hate fingerprints and smudges and I'm quite satisfied with controlling things with buttons or dials. Again, it would be painful to spend a lot of money on a brand new BMW just because it didn't work as designed, and I don't think the $500 credit would help me sleep better at night. p>
