The Apple Watch 7 Series has a hidden wireless data transfer module that may work at USB speeds but is not available to users. It can be a diagnostic interface easily, but some speculate that it could be a groundbreaking technology that Apple will use in the future to build a portless iPhone.

Earlier this month, Apple unveiled the Apple Watch 7 Series with a larger, brighter screen, chipped edges, dust resistance, and more. This new wearable appears to be significantly different from previous designs and a more complete health tracker, but those changes will likely be related to next year's Apple Watch.

However, there is something new at Apple. Note that it wasn't mentioned during the announcement, and probably for good reason. According to FCC reports noted by MacRumors, all 7 Series models have a hidden module capable of wireless data transmission at 60.5 GHz.

You are not supposed to be able to use this new unit, records show that it only rests when the Apple Watch is placed on a custom magnetic base, put the "A2687" that contains the 60.5 unit Corresponding GHz inside and supports USB Type-C. This base is likely for Apple engineers and support technicians who need a new interface to quickly transfer data, troubleshoot diagnostics, or quickly restore their Watch Series 7 to its factory settings.

At this point, no one knows if Apple will always offer this new feature to consumers or if it will simply serve as a diagnostic interface. However, its presence has led some to speculate that this is a step in a series that Apple will take to create a portless iPhone, and possibly even a portless iPad, something that has been rumored for years.

< p> It's easy to see why Apple keeps doing this if it decides to show a little more courage and leave the port left on its most popular mobile device. However, the Cupertino-based giant has revived its MagSafe brand, and the European Commission will soon push it to use USB Type-C on the iPhone, something the company has been reluctant to do. Of course, time will tell, and we can't wait for iFixit to be finished on the Apple Watch Series 7.
